How Not To Celebrate Rosh Hashana

The feast days of YHWH often leave me with profound lessons about the Messiah and insight into His plans for us. This year, however, my lessons from Yom Teruah (Rosh Hashana) were of a more practical nature.

My currently having nine sick children and one very sick husband compel me to offer this advice. On the Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashana) , when observing the command to blow the trumpet:

DO NOT SHARE THE SHOFAR!

Next year, Yah willing, we will have one designated shofar-blower. And we'll disinfect the thing when it's over. I'm just sayin'.

  1. {{{Hugs}}} I'm so sorry that everyone is sick-it's just awful when everyone gets it at once. We dealt with that in May.
I pray that YHWH will restore the health of your home and that everyone will be feeling much better very quickly!

  6. Oh, I pray that you all recover soon, too!

Did you take your delicious tags off? I always enjoy reading what you are reading. Well, sometimes I don't enjoy it...do you know what I mean?....the things they highlight are worrisome. (But of course I never worry. That would be unscriptural. :) ) But I always WANT to read what you are reading.

    Get well soon!

  7. Poor things! I'm so sorry you all are sick.

I stopped in to see if you had updated and to ask you an important (to me) question. Did you follow a NT type diet while you were pregnant with the twins? I'm new to using Nourishing Traditions and I'm trying to find the happy medium to balance pregnancy diet and the risk of gestational diabetes.

Anyway, even if you didn't -- any advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you are all well soon. A family with colds is a sad time for all.

  8. Country Lady~

Yes, I *did* follow a Nourishing Traditions type diet during my pregnancy with the twins, with this exception:

I trusted and obeyed my Creator's instructions over and above the research in Nourishing Traditions.

    What did that look like?

Well, I did not eat what Scriptures command us not to eat, and only ate the things that YHWH calls *food*:

-No unclean meats (pork or pork products like lard
    -No shellfish, catfish, etc.
-No raw meat (because of the blood)

I figure that since He created us, He knows what is best for our bodies, and I can trust His instructions whether I understand them or not.

I know that pregnancy is a time of increased protein needs, and the Nourishing Traditions way of eating makes that a lot easier to accomplish.

    I hope that helps!

  9. Thank you so much. I don't think I can handle the raw meat...ugh. I've had no desire to go that route.

We do eat pork, but I am quite familar with the OT laws forbidding it. I try to avoid too much of it because it causes me to swell up, but we do eat it from time to time.

    Thanks for sharing with me.
